This animal is very ugly. It’s an elusive and pale salamander with three reddish and purple pairs of gills at both sides of the head. It seems that their larvae don’t undergo a complete metamorphosis and this is the reason why this animals still have the gills and the aquatic habits. It lives in the lakes of Mexico, and its Nahuatl name is axolotl, which means “smooth skin”. The length of this amphibious is 5,90 inches (15 cm) and sadly it’s an endangered animal because of their environment’s pollution.
